How long have you been natural?
Ever since I can remember.
Briefly take us through your natural hair journey.
I’ve had an afro since I was small, then relaxed it until 2005. I had short hair then decided to go for dreads, even though most of the family members were against it.
Why did decide on dreadlocks?
Wow, dad came back from work and mentioned an article were a lady went to the salon to relax her hair, and apparently her head and face swelled up.
What do you love about your hair?
I feel fresh air with dreads. With relaxed hair, my head use to itch on hot days. I also love the unique colour mostly. My hair has various colours even though it may appear black to most.
What are some of the challenges
and advantages you’ve experienced since you went natural?
There are hardly any challenges — its cheaper to maintain and it makes you stand out in a crowd with all the various weaves that are out there. I also have a healthy scalp and experience less hair breakage.
What is your hair care regimen?
I wash it twice a week, get treatment and styling once a month or once in two months.
Do you struggle finding products that work for your hair or are you happy with the ones you’re currently using?
I’m currently satisfied with the product I’m using. STYLIN’ DREDZ, keeps my dreads healthy and shiny. I usually buy it at the local supermarket.
