Origins and current location?

I am originally from Three Rivers, Vereeniging; currently living in Joburg!

What are you currently up to?

I am working as a PA-slash-Public relations in a Group Holdings company in Alberton.

How long have you been natural? Briefly take us through your natural hair journey.

I chopped off my processed mane in 2006 and attempted a journey into discovering my real hair.  Since then, every day presents something new. My hair has a texture complex and is rebellious. I have had to experience it in its simplest form to understand its true identity.

Why did you decide to go natural?

I had just decided that I need a change, and took a leap of faith into the unknown!

What are some of the challenges and advantages you’ve experienced since you went natural?

Firstly, my locks wouldn’t lock for something like a 18mnths or more…! I was just about to give up when out of nowhere, something told me I should just try it myself and see what happens. The cool thing about the road to discovery, is you are allowed to fumble a couple of times and in that, people have no choice but to understand that “you are busy trying to do something here”- that explains away the ‘bad hair days’.

What is your hair care regimen?

Simple, no rules. I do my hair WHEN I feel like, WHERE I will (mostly myself).

What hair products do you use and where do you buy them?

Jabu Stone beeswax and shampoo or Stylin Dred products.

Do you do treat and style your own hair or leave it to the professionals?

Mostly myself. I save time, money and disappointment!

What’s your favourite natural hair salon?

None. *laughs*

What natural hairstyle(s) do you like to rock?

As comfortable and free-flowing (sometimes yes, in curls!) as possible. I rock up-do’s at weddings and formal functions at work.
