Salon review: Saint Ane Hair Salon
Posted by FroChic on 09/12/2011
So I recently went to a hair salon for my occasional ”length check” blow-drying and must say my experience this time around was quite lekka.
I had already I coloured, washed & deep conditioned my hair at home (still don’t trust hair stylists in that department). See the thing about a lot of black hair salons is that they are brilliant with relaxed hair & dreadlocks… Afros? Not.
Aaanyway, check this out:
- When I walked in, I was greeted with a smile. Mind you there’s no reception area there but the warm smile & “Hello” alone made me feel super-welcome. That’s all a customer need. A FRIENDLY FACE.
- There were only 2 ladies on duty (it’s a pretty small salon in Malvern) and the other one asked me what I was there for (well she had worked on my hair before) and didn’t give me the nasty look when I told her I only needed a good blow-dry.
- She asked me POLITELY and NICELY to wait for a few minutes in the waiting area while she was finishing off the other client. I had to cut the poor lady some slack & put myself in the client’s shoes. I personally don’t appreciate it when a stylist works on my hair while multitasking.
- The 1st thing I saw when I sat on her workplace warmed my heart….A WIDE-TOOTHED COMB. Yessss!!!
- Next thing she took out the Dark & Lovely moisture seal spray. Another brownie point.
- And then I kindly reminded her that I didn’t want a lot of heat on my hair when she started blowdrying…and unlike the 1st time around she just gave me a sweet, I-remember-that “Sure”, while looking at me in the eye on my mirror reflection.lol
- I kid you not here… there was not tugging and pulling. No ouches (well maybe a few…you know my hair.lol)
- Overall, it was a pretty lekke experience.
- The best part was when she was done; I told her what a great job she had done & she said, in her French accent (she’s from Cameroon) “We hardly ever work on Afros here, so this was a challenge for me & I’m learning as we go”. A lot of stylists could learn from this girl; admit when you don’t know & STOP giving us the nasty look. Amen
I’m definitely going back there!
